Hiking To The Wildflowers
Of Sunshine Meadows
in Banff National Park
August 8, 2012

They call it ‘Hiking On Top Of The World’, and when you reach Sunshine Meadows it does feel like you are looking down on the whole park!

Sunshine Meadows is a beautiful area, located behind the Sunshine Village Ski Resort, just a short drive from Banff or Lake Louise. From the base area you can take the shuttle up to the hiking area and explore on your own, or join in with one of the incredible and knowledgeable guides from White Mountain Adventures for an interactive learning experience.

And not only is this a magical place to hike, but the area is a hot bed for the alpine wildflowers that bloom in the mid to late summer. You can see all types of wildflower varieties, and maybe even a few of the animals that live in this protected area. Sunshine Meadows is a ‘Classic Hike’ in Banff National Park, and well worth a day, especially if you can get Mom to come along!

Beautiful hike and those wildflowers were lovely. I was surprised to see you all wearing long sleeves and jackets already.

I’m coming in September 2013 – looks like I’ll need to pack some warm clothes! Glad I watched today.

Thanks, Julie. Always a good idea to have some extra clothes at this altitude, but we hope you have some nice warm days when you check out the hike!
