Remote Camera Wildlife
Amazing images from Parks Canada
May 21, 2012

Parks Canada researchers in Banff National Park have set up 20+ remote wildlife cameras in various spots around the park. The images that have come back are really quite astounding-very candid looks at animals that (like in the case of the wolverine) few people ever see.

A cougar is caught by the remote camera.

This is about as close to a Grizzly as you’re going to want to get.

There are several galleries of images, exposing these beautiful creatures-including some instances where the animals take notice of the cameras. For example, check out this terrific time lapse video look at photos of a popular tree, and the bears that find it an excellent back scratch. There is a surprise close up of a bruin at the end of the video;

And here is a photo of the rarely seen lynx, using a Parks Canada highway animal overpass;

Finally, take a look at the remarkable ‘A Wild Year’-a collection of images over 12 months, all from Banff National Park.

These photo galleries and videos are being constantly updated by Parks Canada. Click here to check out what furry creatures have passed by recently. Also-follow the Banff National Park Facebook page from Parks Canada-always with interesting updates.
